Hi. It’s Jenny at AnxietyBoss.com. Our question today is from Kathleen in Wayne, New Jersey. Is there a correlation between stress and eczema?
The correlation between stress and eczema is certainly no coincidence. You may find your eczema acts up right before that big meeting or that important date. Although this may be very bothersome, this isn’t unusual. The skin actually flares up a bit when it feels that it’s in harm, so it’s no wonder that eczema becomes more noticeable when stress arises. Fortunately, there are ways to avoid this.
Just as any other stress related problem, a good night’s sleep, relaxation exercises and exercising in general greatly helps. If you find that you’re experiencing high levels of stress, you may want to speak to your doctor about what can be done about it.
Depending on the severity of the stress and eczema correlation, your doctor may suggest self-help techniques, over the counter medications or prescription medications to assist in your recovery.
