What is simple phobia?

Simple phobia is an older term for specific phobia, which is an intense fear of an object or situation. It was known as simple phobia in DSM-III and DSM-III-R, and then changed to specific phobia in DSM-IV. Specific phobia is the current term for DSM-5.
