Yes, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can help with hypervigilance. Hypervigilance is a hyperarousal state where you are constantly scanning your environment for any signs of danger, making you jumpy and jittery, especially to loud and sudden noises.

Hypervigilance is a symptom of PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), and is a result of trauma. When you are exposed to trauma, your brain is not able to process this extreme stimulus, so the negative emotions and thoughts surrounding the trauma are not processed adequately. As a result, you think that the danger is still present, and you contantly prepare to fight or run from that danger that can happen at any moment...hence, you are hypervigilant.

EMDR helps by utilizing eye movements to reduce the intensity of the disturbing thoughts and emotions in PTSD. Hence, EMDR helps with hypervigilance.
