Is test anxiety a form of specific phobia or social phobia?

+1 vote
The terms for specific phobia and social phobia are confusing when trying to classify performance anxiety, such as test anxiety and stage fright. So which phobia is test anxiety?

Test anxiety is a type of social phobia, a performance anxiety. There is marked anxiety about taking tests, due to the fear of performing where embarrassment might occur. What differentiates specific phobia from social phobia is that in social phobia, there is the fear of social scrutiny or the fear of embarrassment in front of people. So in test anxiety, although you would think it is a specific phobia because it is a testing situation which gives you anxiety, it is really a social phobia, specifically a performance anxiety, as you have the fear of having your test performance scrutinized by others (i.e. the teacher).

Test anxiety is an example of an anxiety disorder where the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) does not overtly state where it is classified. So now it is...test anxiety is a type of social phobia, a performance anxiety.
