There is a direct relationship between the fight or flight response and panic attacks. Panic attacks occur when the fight or flight response is activated and it responds intensely, intermittently, and randomly. When the fight or flight response is activated, then it leads to the activation of the sympathetic nervous system and the release of stress hormones. These are the components that when activated intensely, leads to a panic attack, as these components affect the body (e.g. muscles), organs (e.g. heart), and the brain.
