In men with social anxiety disorder, also known as social phobia, they can be quite submissive and shy. They may have a rigid body posture, have poor eye contact, or speak very softly. They say very little, and hardly say anything about themselves. Men with social anxiety disorder tend to be single longer, and may stay with their parents longer. If they get a job, it is usually in situations where there is not much social contact. It is not uncommon for them to self-medicate with drugs of abuse, as substances such as alcohol can take the edge off when going to social events, like a party. When you see a man blush, it is a physical sign of the social anxiety.
