Can Vistaril (Hydroxyzine) 50mg stop a panic attack?

Hi, I have a really bad panic disorder. I've got a new doctor, and from klonopin, he's prescribing me Vistaril to be taken every time I feel I'm going to have a panic attack. 50mg up to 3 times daily. Do they really work? I'm genuinely scared to take them and not finding any relief.

It can work for panic attacks, at the right dose. Many times it just calms you enough to make you sleepy, so you sleep off your panic attack, which is not a bad idea.
