Can I work with PTSD?

0 votes
I have PTSD from a robbery and assault. I still have flashbacks and nightmares about it, and it really messes up my days. I had to quit my job a few months ago as I was not able to focus, as all the noises at the factory make me jumpy. But I am running out of money, and need to get back to work.

I'm sorry to hear about your trauma. But you can go back to work when your PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) is stabilized. If you are having flashbacks and nightmares, then you are still re-experiencing the traumatic event. Also, if you are jumpy, then you may have hypervigilance, which is constantly being on-guard for any possible dangers in the environment. I suggest you meet with your doctor, and ask for a referral to a psychiatrist. Once your PTSD is stabilized in treatment, then you can go back to work.
