Can claustrophobia be inherited?

The answer is yes. Claustrophobia, which is an extreme fear of closed spaces or of being confined, is a type of specific phobia. Claustrophobia runs in families, and has both genetic and environmental influences. So although you can inherit the genes, claustrophobia can also be passed on by environmental influences, such as modeling behaviors of the parents and style of dealing with stressors.
