Women and people who were previously married are at increased risk of developing PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). The most common traumas associated with PTSD are combat exposure in men and sexual molestation in women. In addition, those who have experienced a sudden, unexpected death of a loved one are at increased risk of developing PTSD, with 14.3% developing PTSD with this trauma. In fact, the trauma of losing a loved one unexpectedly is the trauma that is most reported amongst people with PTSD (Carandang, 2014).
