Hi. It’s Jenny at AnxietyBoss.com here. Our question today is from Linda in San Diego. Is it safe to take a diet supplement while taking an antidepressant?
It’s not recommended to take weight loss pills while you’re taking an antidepressant due to the possible side effects that may occur. Do not take diet supplements without speaking to your doctor first. Your doctor may be able to help you find a weight loss supplement that will not react negatively with your antidepressant.
It’s important to realize that your side effects due to your antidepressant may actually worsen while taking a diet supplement due to their similar side effects. This may include, but is not limited to, dry mouth, insomnia, nausea, hot flashes, and dizziness.
Something else that you may want to pay close attention to is the possibility of the weight loss supplement and antidepressant cancelling each other out.
